Pre-war enrollment in public schools was about 1,944,000; in 1953, it was at 3,660,000; an increase of 88%.
In 1948 when EQ became President, there were 73,466 teachers; in 1953, 91,665 teachers; an increase of almost 25%
In 1948 there were 13,696 elementary schools, in 1953 it went up to 23,677, an increase of 73%!
In 1948 there were 288 high schools, in 1953 it went up to 353, an increase of 23%
Note: Special Vocational Schools, which are part of private schools, increased from 364 in 1947-48 to 397 in 1952-53. Enrollment in these schools went from 8,736 to 41, 261.
